Head of research projects:
  2006- Recipient of the 2006 Linnaeus Grant – Swedish Research Council. This is a 10 year grant for excellence (90 000 000 SEK). The aim of the Linnaeus Grants is to enhance support for research of the highest quality that can compete internationally. In 2006, it was for the first time awarded 20 research groups in competition among all sciences in Sweden

  1997-2003 Head of the Research Project "Early-Life Conditions, Social Mobility and Longevity. Social differences and trends in adult and old-age mortality in Sweden, 1650-1900". The project has received funding from the Swedish Council for Social Research and from 2001 from the National Institute of Aging, USA. Funds from the Swedish Council for Planning and Co-ordination of Research are used to develop the database. The project has 11 participants from economics, economic history, social medicine and statistics.
  1997-2002 Deputy Director of the International Project "Labour Demand, Education, and the Dynamics of Social Exclusion", financed by the European Union, and head of the Swedish part of the project. The project has about 40 participants from 10 countries. The Swedish part of the project includes 5 senior and 5 junior scholars and receives additional financial support from the Swedish Council for Research in Humanities and Social Sciences.
  1996-2002 Head of the Research Program in Economic Demography financed by the Swedish Council for Social Research. The program has about 25 participants from economics, economic history, social medicine and statistics.
  1995- Co-head of the International Project "EurAsia Project on Population and Family History", and Head of the Swedish part "From hunger to modern economic growth. Demography and family behaviour in Sweden, 1650-1900", financed by the Swedish Council for Social Research and the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation. The international project has approximately 40 participants. The Swedish part has eight participants from economic history, economics, social medicine and statistics.
  1993-97 Head of the Research Project "Life event and time series analysis - a synthesis applied to migration", financed by the Swedish Council for Research in Humanities and Social Sciences. The project had six participants from economic history and statistics.
  1989-96 Age-structure, labour supply and long-distance internal migration (financed by the Expert Group for Regional and Urban Studies). The project had two participants from economic history and the Expert Group for Regional and Urban Studies
  1989-92 Life events in a peasant society in transition (financed by the Swedish Council for Research in Humanities and Social Sciences). The project had six participants from economic history, history and mathematical statistics.
